Altec Lansing inMotion MAX Description:

The iMT702 inMotion MAX speaker system is an improved and redesigned successor of the iM600. The system is compatible with both iPod, the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G. Improvements include a compact glossy black and aluminum trim body with striking design, the dock actually holds the iPod/iPhone securely unlike the previous iM600 which does not secure the iPod from falling plus it only supports iPod and it offers better FM radio reception than its predecessor.

Though the inMotion MAX is a litlle more expensive than its competitors like the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2, this Altec speaker system has a superior sound quality compared to others from its class. The bass is also notably better, even without a subwoofer. The inMotion MAX is also immune to wireless interference when receiving calls which is very common in any nonshielded speaker systems. You can also keep your iPhone docked while answering, although the speakers do not act as speakerphones, you can use the Bluetooth headset that comes with the system.

The inMotion MAX also comes with an infrared remote with a 30 feet working range.

Overview

The inMotion Max is an excellent iPhone speaker system. The sound is great, clear and loud. Quality Features: FM radio, internal rechargeable battery and remote control all for a reasonable price. If you are looking for good all around iPhone Speaker system the Altec Lansing inMotion Max is worth checking out.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Excellent Sound
Rechargeable Battery
Great Style
Cons: No AM Radio

Review

Altec Lansing always puts out great products and the inMotion Max is a perfect example of this.

The inMotion Max is the next generation of the iM600. One improvement is the inMotion Max plays music from your iPhone with out your iPhone going into airplane mode. The design has been improved, slightly taller and thinner than the iM600). The remote is a little more stylish while providing the same functionality.

We really like the inMotion Max for its great sound and size. The sound is nice and clear. On the front there is a display that shows the input sorce and the volume and battery levels.

FM Radio
The im600 had a metal FM antenna, the inMotion Max has a wire that plugs into the back. They both seem to get the job done. The traditional antenna was nice because it was always attached. Might not even be an issue for you if you do not plan on listening to the radio that much.

Summary
If you are looking for a good all around iPhone/iPod Speaker System the inMotion Max is a great choice. Great sound, good design, rechargable battery, easy to carry it has it all.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Radio reception rubbish
Build quality mediocre
Sound quality very poor

Review

I bought this item with high hopes after reading numerous reviews on the internet and I must say I was very disappointed when I received it.

Firstly the radio function is just rubbish. It will only pick up 2 stations in my house (both stations I don't want to listen too) which I find ridiculous, esp as the standard radio I have in my house picks up everything so its not my house that is the problem its the rubbish wire antenna they provide that is worthless!! Which they advertise as 'comes with a wire antenna for superior reception!!' Ha!

Secondly the sound quality is awful!!! Anyone who has written reviews on this item saying the sound quality is brilliant for the price range must be both deaf and rich if they think that £140 is a reasonable price for the sound quality this system gives out. The bass is very distorted at a loudish volume and inaudible at a louder loud volume!! Also there is an annoying hiss at low volumes, so there is not even a middle ground with this system.

Lastly I found the build quality mediocre, the push in and out docking area for the Iphone would never stand the test of time and also moves in and out when you push buttons on your Iphone making it annoying to use, esp as you cant scroll between albums using the remote control. Also the touch sensitive buttons on the top of the system are very sensitive and unresponsive all at the same time! Very odd!

Overall if I could give this 0 stars then I would, my advice is put in the extra £60-£70 and buy the Bose system as it blows this systems sound quality out of the water!!

I have the im600 but then got an iPhone for Christmas. The inMotion Max is just as good as the im600. I have been very pleased with the purchase
