You don’t name an iPod speaker system Orbit without a cool design. The Altec Lansing Orbit speaker's compact and unique round shape fit the bill. Its small, circular shape reminds you more of a planet in solar space than an iPod stereo with 360 degree sound.

The Orbit also comes with an adapter designed specifically for Sony Ericsson cellphones. The cord that is used to connect to the iPod or iPhone is tucked away and wrapped around the bottom.

The Orbit runs on three AAA batteries, which allow for continuous playing for 24 hours. It’s also affordable and offers great sound quality using a single speaker system.

Carrying Case (237 Models)

The iM237 also comes with a pretty nice nylon carrying case with carabineer clip to prevent scratching it from moving carrying around.

Again for its extremely affordable price and great sound quality for its size, you cannot go wrong with the Orbit.

Nice Portable Speaker

Overview

The Atlec Lansing Orbit is designed for simple playback and easy portability. It uses an auxiliary cable as it’s main source of input from your audio device. This means it can play more than just an iPhone or iPod.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Good Sound (for its size)
Rechargeable Battery
Convenient Style

Cons:

No Radio

Review

The Orbit is one of the most basic systems on the market. If you are looking for a speaker that plays music well and has a rechargeable battery this one is great.

Design:
The small design makes it easy to take with you, the auxiliary cable adds more versatility than a iPhone/iPod dock, and the rechargeable batter ensures you can be listening to whatever you want for hours.

Sound:
One of the weaker sides of any small speaker system. Although it does sound pretty good considering it’s size and it’s main uses.

Value:
Good sound in a little speaker system is great for those looking for convenience and portability. The major selling point for most people looking at speaker systems will be the price tag. It’s significantly less then other portable speakers.

Summary:
Great value, versatility and convenience make the orbit a much more desirable portable speaker then others.
