JBL On Stage 200ID Description:

The JBL On Stage 200iD speaker system features an attractive, futuristic and compact design. The design is also clean and simple with only two chrome volume buttons on the top as well as a power button at the back of the system.

Aside from housing the power button, the back also contains ports for DC-in and an auxiliary input for playing music from your mp3 player, music-enabled phone or cd player. An extra cable is also bundled with the system for use with your non iPod mp3 players.

The infrared remote control that comes with the On Stage 200iD offers the usual functions like volume, mute, play/pause/stop, forward/reverse. It can also navigate through the iPod's menus, which only a few other iPod/iPhone speaker systems out there have this feature.

Since On Stage 200iD supports iPhone in addition to iPod, the speaker system is designed to shield the noise created from wireless interference so there is no need to turn on Airplane Mode for your iPhone. Five clear dock adapters are included for docking different iPod and iPhone models.

Great sound quality compared to other speaker systems in the same class.

Pros and Cons

Pros: It was half the price of the new iHome (iP1, $299) and Bose system and the sound was competitive. Its small enough to move to different locations in my home. You can use your Iphone and Ipod with it; opposed to the iHome, it will not only play Youtube clips, but you can also see the video footage.
Cons: Even though the sound is great, it could be louder, but then again, maybe it s best for me and my neighbors that it isn't.

Review

I originally planned to purchase my boyfriend the new iHome iP1 for Christmas. It looks cool, has great sound (bass is kickin') and he could use his iphone and ipod with it. When I went to the store to purchase the ihome, I started to compare it to all of the items near it. Since I also have an iphone, i was able to connect my music to the various audio systems to get an idea of how each system sounds. When the customer service guy approached me and asked if i needed help I told him what I was looking for and I asked his opinion on what he thought sounded the best. He said it was between the iHome, Bose (too rich for my blood) and the JBL. After he shifted my attention, I connected my iphone and turned on my music. I was impressed! The only diffference in terms of sound was that the iHome volume can be turned up a little louder and I must admit, I DO like the iHome's overall appearance better. But since the JBL was HALF the price, I could buy myself one too! I was sold!
